Our thirteenth annual festival features fifty five films from around the globe. Nineteen films feature Wisconsin connections including the Milwaukee made slapstick masterpiece Hundreds of Beavers which screens Saturday, November 11th at 8pm. All films screen at the historic Gerold Opera House in Weyauwega, Wisconsin. The Gerold features a full bar and menu from the Wega Bistro. Stay for the day! Most films are followed by Q&A’s with the filmmakers after the screenings.
Our guest filmmaker this year is Jon Jost. Jon is a pioneer in independent low budget filmmaking. Jon will be presenting two of his films, All the Vermeers in New York (1990) on Saturday, November 11th at 6pm and Tourists (2022) November 9th at 8:30pm..
Our classic film is Blow-Up (1966), Michelangelo Antonioni’s mod masterpiece. Blow-Up inspired future generations of filmmakers and artists with its nontraditional storytelling, captivating, hallucinating visuals and its deep, thought-provoking attempt at disclosing and exploring the perceptive nature of reality and the often baffling relationship of truth and perception. Wednesday, November 8th at 7:30pm.
Our closing night film is Hundreds of Beavers, the mad cap comedy about a man fighting off a large group of beavers. This film was made in Milwaukee and has been a big hit at festivals around the world.
The Psychofest section of WIFF features Horror, Thrillers and Sci- Fi shorts and features. It is our annual tribute to Robert Bloch who wrote the novel PYSCHO while living in Weyauwega after being inspired by the nearby Ed Gein murders in Plainfield, Wisconsin. Friday, November 10th, Psychofest features ten films starting at 7pm.
